Here is what I posted to the Staff email at school today:
Well, they sure like to do things the hard way. Last year, the Red Serge tournament in Coquitlam was the 'crux' of our season, we pulled out the tournament victory after some tough defeats. This is typically the toughest tournament to win during the season, often more so than the provincials. This year proved no different as the girls went 2 and 2 in pool play, finishing 4th out of 5. This meant 4 tough games to win the tournament instead of 2....but they did it. We 'toured' the Okanagan, defeating Penticton, unbeaten Kelowna and Kamloops on the way to the tournament final against host school Riverside. They were exhausted (this was their 6th match of the day) but pulled it out with a 15-11 third set tiebreak. Christine Howlett was named to the tournament all star team while Nicole McNamara was named MVP. Needless to say, they are pretty beat. This week will be relatively quiet leading up to the Fraser Valley tournament we are hosting Nov.13, 14 and 15. Please be sure to give the girls a pat on the back and come out to watch next week. If you are a Surrey resident, their last league game of the season is Monday night at Earl Marriott at 6:30.
