The Snr. Girls tournament for Oct.5/6 will start sometime Friday afternoon. We will be on a morning ferry, probably the 9am, and will be staying at the Howard Johnson near Elk Lake. I have reserved 6 rooms for the team; 4 for the girls and one each for Sandra and I. Both of us can accomodate one other person in our rooms, first come first serve. If you intend to come to help out with transportation or to watch, please make the necessary arrangements. Don't feel you need to stay at the same hotel as us if you'd like to make a holiday of it. I will post details regarding the draw and hotel costs as soon as I get them.
Cheers, Dan Great job by the senior girls in the UBC Volleyball Tournament. On our way to the final we beat provincially ranked Cedar Secondary (#4 AA), Heritage Woods (#1 AAAA), Handsworth (#9 AAAA), St. Pat's (#10 AA), South Kamloops (#2 AAAA) and Kelowna Christian (#1 A). Emma Robinson, Megan McNamara and Nicole McNamara were all named tournament All Stars, that's more than any other team. While the final may not have worked out the way we hoped, matches literally don't get much any closer than that. We'll be sure to see Heritage Woods a third time in the Fraser Valleys, maybe sooner if we're lucky!
Congratulations to the Junior girls for a hardfought 3rd place at the Seaquam tournament. Snr Girls this week: Game vs. Earl Marriott @ ELGIN PARK, Monday, 6:30 game start. Please be there by 5:45pm. There will also be some additional costs for the junior trip to Nanaimo at the end of October and the senior trip to Victoria near Thanksgving for transportation and h Hi all,
Well, that was quite a day today. The senior schedule changed 3 times in about 2 hours and the junior girls were entered in 1 tournament this weekend, then 2, then 1 again. Here is the MOST UP TO DATE schedule for Snr/Jnr girls volleyball. It includes all Referee duties for SDSS home games. If you've printed off a previous schedule it is likely not current, please refer to this one. SDSS Volleyball Calendar The SDSS gym schedule (for practices) can be found here. In the event of a conflict between my calendar and the respective league website, please defer to the website: Snr Girls Fraser Valley AAAA Jnr Girls Delta Jnr Girls this week: Tournament for both teams at Seaquam Secondary.....Schedule Snr Girls this week: Scrimmage vs. DSS Wednesday night 7pm UBC Tournament all day Friday and Saturday....Schedule Ok, things are starting to take shape. I've attached the most current schedule for this year. It includes the Snr games.
Practices are NOT on the schedule, talk to your coaches. Snr. girls will generally practice at 6:00 Tues/Thur all season, sometimes earlier on the Thursdays if we can manage it. There is no practice the night of Grad Boat Cruise (Oct. 9). BOTH Junior teams will be at Seaquam, schedule to be announced. Seniors are in the Mizuno UBC tournament, schedule attached. Current Volleyball Schedule as of Sept.18 UBC Draw for Snr Girls Sept.21/22 The Langley Events Centre will be hosting the U-23 Pan American
Men’s Volleyball Cup from September 25 to September 30. Link As with all large events, volunteers will be extremely important in order to make this tournament a success. I have attached information about the volunteer requirements to this email. It would be great if you could forward this information to anyone that you think may be interested in helping out. Volunteers will be provided with an opportunity to watch some of the matches when they are not performing their volunteer duties, however there are a number of positions that will still give you a great view of the action. One of the Volunteer positions to note is the Volleyball Information System (VIS) – This is basically the stats system used to keep track of what is happening in matches. We do require 6 people for these positions during the match. 3 people for each team. Caller: - Should know volleyball and what the skills are that we are tracking. (Server, Receive, Set, Attack, Block and Dig). It will help if they can identify a one or two person block as well. Keyboard: - Does not NEED to know VB but it would help. So when the caller says DIG, they have an idea in their head what is going on. Helps with the flow. Writer – Again, like the keyboard person VB is not a big requirement but it helps.
